5th Grade Musical: The 5th grade chorus will perform the musical “Arff” on Tues., June 15. They will perform a dress rehearsal at 9 a.m. with costumes and accessories, and must be at the school at 6:40 p.m. for the 7 p.m. concert.
Middle School Meeting: The Lake Braddock Secondary School Parent Teacher Student Association is hosting a parent-only meeting at White Oaks Elementary on Thursday, June 17th at 7:00 p.m. for those with rising 7th graders.
Last Day of School: Dismissal will be at 10:55. Please plan accordingly.
Volunteers Needed: The PTA needs volunteers for the annual end-of-year teacher appreciation lunch, planned for Mon., June 21. We need volunteers to set up, clean up, or contribute side dishes (garden, pasta and fruit salads), bread and desserts. Dishes can be dropped off in the office that morning. If you can volunteer or contribute a dish, please email PTA President George Brodie at president@ravensworthpta.org.
2010-2011 Class Schedules: The school administration, with input from FCPS officials, has announced that next year’s class schedule will include 75-minute blocks of general music and physical education. That replaces this year’s schedule of 60 minutes for general music and 90 minutes for physical education. The change was made to increase core academic time and prevent 4th, 5th, and 6th graders from missing science for band and strings instruction. Under the new schedule, students in band and strings will receive 45 minutes of instrument instruction taken from general music.
Instructional time for art will remain the same as this year, with 60 minutes per week for students in grades 1 – 3 and 80 minutes every other week for students in grades 4 – 6.
