GRACE ART

Promote art in the classroom while you get involved with your child's class! It doesn't take much time, you don't need any art experience and we provide the materials!

Grace Art (a program through the Greater Reston Arts Center) is a PTA-sponsored, hands-on experience that volunteers bring to all of our children’s classes almost every month (five lessons during the school year).  In each Grace Art session the children learn about an individual artist or specific style of art and what makes it special.  The students are then led through a hands-on project applying what they have learned.

Our Grace Art coordinator, Susan Eggerton, teaches the parent volunteers who then go out and teach the children.   No experience in art or the humanities required!  No teaching experience required, either!   Not sure if this artsy stuff is for you?  Join us at our meetings on the first Thursday of each month at 9:30 am in the SACC room to learn more.

Here are the 2008-2009 dates for Grace Art planning meetings:

Thursday, October 2 for Degas
Thursday, October 30 for Kandinsky
Thursday, January 8 for Grandma Moses
Thursday, February 5 for Horses in Art
Thursday, March 5 for Japanese Art
