Buses generally arrive between 8:05 and 8:20am. Students are allowed to go to their classroom after 8:15. Students who arrive before 8:15 wait in the cafeteria. The earliest students can arrive is 8:05am.
Students are tardy after 8:30am and must sign in at the office before going to their classroom.
Pick Up After School, Visitors & Volunteers
At the end of the school day, parents can pick up their child in the school lobby or outside the front doors.
Our Kiss and Ride Carpool procedures are easy to follow. Four vehicle pickup stations are marked by colored traffic cones allowing staff and patrols to help load four cars at once. Students line up in numbered lanes (1-5) alphabetically according to last name. Students and drivers are called to a specific colored cone for boarding. Additional information will be distributed to Kiss and Ride students.
If your child is going home with a friend, both parents must write a note to the teacher. It should state who the child is going home with and how (carpool, walking).
If your child is arriving or leaving at times other than regular school hours, you must sign him/her in or out at the office using the green form. The school prefers regular medical appointments to be scheduled after regular hours whenever possible. If this is not possible, please send in a note to the teacher stating the reason and time of early dismissal.
You must check in at the office and get a visitor or volunteer sticker each time you visit the school during regular school hours. Remember to sign out when you leave.

Lunch
Each student from 1st-6th grade has a lunch card. There are several ways to put money on the card. Add money to your child's account on-line at www.mylunchmoney.com. You will need your child's student ID # which can be found on previous report cards. You may also send in a check made out to Ravensworth ES Food Services. Include the child’s name & grade in the memo section. Students give the check to their teacher. Cash may also be sent in but be sure to include a note stating the purpose of the cash and your student’s name & grade.
Even if your child usually brings a lunch or lunch-money from home, it is recommended that you purchase a lunch card for your child with five or more lunches pre-paid. The card stays in the cafeteria and can be used if your child forgets a lunch or lunch money.
Other Things to Know
You can contact your child’s teacher by note, email or phone call. Teachers’ phones are off during the day so if you have an emergency it is best to call the office at 703 426-3600.
On the days your child has Physical Education (P.E.) classes, please be sure they wear athletic shoes.
The school’s Lost-and-Found box is located in the cafeteria. Please be sure that you and your child check it regularly.
There is no parking on the school side of Nutting Drive between the hours 7am-4pm.
