The Ravensworth Elementary School PTA is a busy organization that
supports the children, teachers and staff at Ravensworth Elementary
School.
The Ravensworth PTA is extremely active and supportive
of Ravensworth Elementary and its programs. We strive to provide contributions support the educational enrichment for the students and school. The PTA hosts cultural events and offerings to the students beyond those
activities that are provided by FCPS. Just a few examples are GRACE Art, and
Family Fun nights. We provide a GROW team to
create outdoor classrooms and landscaping and a Take-Home Reading
program for students in first and second grade. Through fundraising
efforts the PTA has purchased LCD projectors, digital
cameras, math and science manipulatives and other educational equipment, and one SmartBoard per grade
level. IT’S NEVER TOO LATE TO JOIN THE PTA!: Membership dues are
$10.00 and membership envelopes are available in the school office. If
you are unable to stop by the office, please email Sally McColl or call 703-644-4611 and she'll make sure an envelope is sent
home with your child. Thank you to the hundreds of parents who have
already joined!
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES: Please remember to fill out and return the volunteer sheet that came home in the welcome packets.
The PTA has openings in the following positions for the 2008-09 school year.
*Grow Team Co-coordinator: One position taken, two remaining. Email Eileen for questions or details.
*Grace Art:
Seeking volunteer to work as co-chairman (with experienced leader) in
this program that brings art and humanities to our children. No
experience necessary. Guaranteed to be a marvelous learning
experience while truly benefiting our children! Also seeking
volunteers to help with classes during the year.
*Magnet Art Coordinator: Spring fun fundraiser! Children’s art projects sent to company for production to various gifts ie T-shirts, mugs, calendars.
*Spring Dance Coordinator: Notes and previous coordinator available for help.
*Summer Reading Program Coordinator
*PTA Executive Board Parliamentarian: For information regarding any of these opportunities please email Susan Merrill.
*Clinic Volunteer:
Training is free and available on the following dates. Wednesday,
October 8th 9am-11:30am; Thursday, October 16th 9am-11:30am; Wednesday,

Please remember to turn in your PTA Student Directory Parent
Information form that came home in the purple PTA Welcome packet. If
you need a new one, email Paula
and she will soft copy one to you. The Directory is free to PTA
members and lists all students in the school with name, address, phone
